Five Minute Friday: Encouragement

Click the button below to go to the Five Minute Friday instructions for joining. It’s so much fun to be given a topic to write on for five minutes each week ( I rarely get Friday’s topic written on Friday), then we link up over at Lisa Jo’s site and read as many as we can, leaving comments and making friends! Come join us. The topic for this week was a real surprise, and surprisingly a challenge. Enjoy!
Five Minute Fridayencourage2So she wants me to write on encouragement, and I’m at a loss for words? Oh no, it has happened again the plumber needs his drains cleaned, the roofer needs his shingles replaced, and the encourager needs encouragement. Yes, I fancy myself an encourager. I feel like I’m repeating myself on my blog so often: “Think about what you want, be grateful, smile, lift up others, trust God, meditate scripture. You can do it!” Blah, blah, blah!

But it’s true, and you and I both know it, but sometimes I hear that little voice, “You are not going to be able to do this, what if this happens or that happens or nothing happens.” I need to be encouraged, too. Then again, there’s another of my favorite sayings, “Give what you need.” And we keep encouraging others, I keep leaving comments on blogs I read, taking time to lift up others, and help them see the best of themselves! You can do it, and you will do it. You are not alone. God is with you. God is helping you. You are someone very special to the Lord. What would you do, if you knew you could not fail? There are so many life-filled encouraging scriptures. Just take one today. I will, if you will. Let’s say it out loud or in our mind 100, 200, maybe 300 times today. I know it will make a difference. We will build ourselves up in the Lord. I know we will. What scripture will you take today? Mine is, “All things are possible to him who believes!” Mark 9:23 Have a great day!

  1. I so relate to this Sharon. I actually wrote 2 FMF this week on the word Encouragement. The second one (the funny one) is what I put up because I thought people would like it best. The first one though mirrors what you say here. I too, am the encourager. I do it for a living as a coach in an at home business, and I do it with my blog and website. However, as you said..we too need encouragement. Sometimes I think when a person is so good at helping others or at being an uplifter, people assume they don’t need help or encouragement in return. Like we are just invincible or something. So, thanks for writing the truth on where you were at today. Hmm, what quote will I take away for the day scripture wise ? Let’s see … For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. That is a fav. of mine, as I don’t need to figure it all out then. I just need to mosey along and do my thing as I am led where to go…. Have a great weekend! Thanks for sharing this and I am sending you a cup overflowing with encouragement (let’s call it encouragement coffee with Delighted whipped cream and Glad sprinkles on top)! Let’s have a virtual cup!

  2. This is so true, Sharon. As a fellow encourager, I can’t tell you how life-giving it is for me to receive encouragement from others as well. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and encourage me this week! Looking forward to a blossoming friendship built on the overflowing joy of the Lord!
